Regional Wins the Achilles Stakes!

 In Uncategorized

What. A. Weekend! Reggie won the Achilles Stakes on Saturday at Haydock for his owners; Future Champions Racing.

Reggie is very pleased with himself after his fantastic efforts!

He rocketed out of the stalls and he was going whether Callum Rodriguez who was riding him was going or not. Luckily Callum was on the ball and they both jumped to sit around 3rd during the race. As the other horses started to push the button Reggie went into 5th gear and accelerated away from them. He won very well and comfortably, and it was a very impressive win from Reggie & Callum in this listed race. This is the third listed race Ed has won during his training career so far, with hopefully many more to come.

Reggie will now have an easy time before being picked up again before his next run. He has come out of the race exceedingly well and looks magnificent in his body and health.

A huge well done to Barbara who rides him every day at home and does all of his gallop work, she looks after him like a King all year round, and as we know horses like this aren’t made over night and it takes a lot of work, time and patience to get a horse to this level. A huge team effort from Barbara who rides him, to our yard staff, farrier, physio, etc and maybe a little bit of training from Ed.

As we reflect on a fantastic time with Reggie over the weekend, we look forward to this week where we have a lot of runners, the below are declared:

Tomorrow 13th: Lady Roamer at Southwell at 5.05pm

Wednesday 14th: Sea the Dream 3.50pm & Coverdale 5.20pm at Haydock. Rock of England at Hamilton at 7.20pm

Thursday 15th entered & not yet declared are: Rich Glory & Master Chartwell

Friday 16th: Cool Run at York

Sunday 18th: Open Choice at Doncaster

Good luck to all of our horses running this week and all of the connections, lets hope we can keep up the good statics and strike rate as this makes Ed very happy. Next time you will be hearing from Ed on the season so far and the final lead up to Royal Ascot with only 7 days to go until the opening day!

Some of our 2yo’s cantering up the gallops with Penhill looking magnificent in the background.
