Oviedo Wins The Zetland Gold Cup!

 In Uncategorized

Oviedo won The Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar Racecourse yesterday (29th). He ran a foot perfect race from start to finish, he made the break out of the stalls very well and sat in fourth position all the way around until the final few furlongs, when Callum Rodriguez who was riding him squeezed him up into the bridle and we saw Oviedo show his class where he went into another gear and held off the opposition to win very comfortably. It has been 27 years since a three year old has won the Zetland Gold Cup, go Oviedo!

Oviedo looking very pleased as he crosses the finishing post first.

It was wonderful to have one of his patient owners there who has allowed Ed do train Oviedo how he needs to be and to place him in the correct races on the ground that suits him best. A huge well done to the whole team and to Hesham who rides him at home each day and has done such a brilliant job on him.

We are all absolutely thrilled how he ran and he ran in fine style under a very impressive ride from Callum. For Oviedo to get his head in front and to reach the finishing post first was brilliant to see, and this will give him a huge amount of confidence.

We have all been enjoying the glorious sunshine we have been currently having and the horses have very much enjoyed the sunshine on their back while they have been in the paddocks for some downtime.

This week sees a few runners, we currently have Indiana Be and Nigwa declared for Thursday at Ripon. Indiana Be runs at 2.50pm over 1m & Nigwa runs at 4.20pm over 1m 2f, Callum Rodriguez ries both of the horses on Thursday.

We also have a few entries for the week, they are:

Rock of England at Doncaster on Friday the 1st at 4.35pm

Lerwick at Doncaster on Saturday the 2nd at 5.10pm

Point Lynas at Nottingham on the 4th at 3.45pm

Next time you will be hearing from Ed in his 2nd blog, there will be lots to look forward to from him after the fantastic Spring/early summer Ed and the team are having and no doubt he will keep you posted on his statics too!

Ovideo & Hesham having a moment after his fantastic efforts.
