double on the weekend

Following on from the last post the horses continued their fantastic form into the weekend with Amber Hamur having her second run from the yard to go one better than her first start for us to win on Saturday evening in fine style by leading from the front to maintain her lead and win under a great ride from Connor Beasley. Clocker wasn’t going to let her stable mate have all the glory and also won, and she was gutsy to the line to fend off her rivals under Cian Horgan who rode his first winner for the yard which is brilliant as he is a new member of the Bethell Racing team as our apprentice jockey. Two out of two for the runners up at Hamilton which is brilliant for the horses, owners and all connections and the team.

Although we had a brilliant Saturday evening which we are thrilled about we had a slightly frustrating day at York with Danger Bay running in the John Smith Cup, he ran a brilliant race and but unfortunately he was caught up behind several horses interfering with each other which lead to Danny Tudhope who was riding him to take a pull so he didn’t also get caught up in the commotion in front of him. Once the horses in front of him opened up he managed to travel through and make up a lot of ground but due to the interference in the latter part of the race it left Danger Bay with a lot of ground to make up to the finish line. He finished a credible fourth place all things considered but a race of what could have been with the way he ran on. Although he didn’t get the run we all know he is more than capable of we very much look forward to where he will go for the rest of the season.

Azure Angel ran a good race in her stakes race a York and finished half a length off the winner. A brilliant run at this level and has bounced out of her Royal Ascot run, she will now head to Glorious Goodwood and we very much look forward to seeing her start there.
