The Snow Wasn’t going to Stop Play!
We had a very successful owners day on Saturday to celebrate the terrific season we have had and to thank our owners for all their support and loyalty to Bethell Racing. You wouldn’t believe that we had snow arrive in the early hours on Saturday morning which was far from ideal as we had nearly 100 of our owners arriving at the Bell Barn across the road from the yard. We were astounded by the turnout that we had with the awful weather conditions as we still had the majority of people who said they would attend, attend! This really does show their level of commitment to Bethell Racing.
Unfortunately we had to cancel the yearling parade prior to lunch due to obvious reasons, and as Ed said we would have yearlings and owners looking like bambi on ice! All was not lost and we managed to do a digital parade on a big screen which worked very well and meant we could all watch the parade from the warmth and with a glass of something yummy in hand!
The day went very smoothly and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves which is brilliant to see, we are truly grateful for each and every individual that supports Bethell Racing to achieve the results we do and make it all possible. The day went so well and quickly that we even forgot to take pictures to update you all with!
We also had three runners on Saturday evening, two first timers at Newcastle which saw Cemlyn making her debut to finish fourth by a length, she has such a bonnie character and we very much look forward to seeing her running over the winter. Orangesandlemons was also making her debut and ran very greenly for the first part of the race and grew in a huge amount of confidence throughout her race to finish a very strong second place which was brilliant, it was also fantastic to see as Ed’s parents bred her, we very much look forward to seeing her run next time and.
Yorkshire was not going to be outdone by the girls, he was running at Wolverhampton and ran a tremendous race throughout considering he didn’t have the best trip around the track and had to make up a huge amount of ground having found himself in a wide position going around the bends! He has grown in so much confidence over the past few months and a lot of credit has to go to Sammy-Jo who rides him everyday, he thrives having his routine with his regular rider and they have grown a strong relationship. He will now have a short break before coming back into work and being aimed at a race in February.
We have had 15 exciting arrivals earlier in the week several of the yearlings making their arrival at Bethell Racing HQ who have all come from the pre-trainers who have started their ridden career off in a educational and positive way. It is fantastic to see the new faces on the yard and getting to know them, they seem to have settled in quickly and are taking everything in their stride. We are looking forward to getting to know them more before they all have a two week break over the Christmas period. The majority of the older horses have also come in from their holidays and are back on the horse walker preparing for their condition work over the winter months. It seems crazy that their holidays are already over and the preparation for next season is already underway!
