Liam started working in racing after leaving home at 16. He went to work for Mark Johnston for 3 years, then onto Micky Hammond for a year where he had a handful of rides over hurdles, before going back Johnston’s for a further 4 years. He headed out to Australia in 2013 for a year, where he rode trackwork for Gollan Racing at Eagle Farm Racecourse (Brisbane, Queensland) in the mornings and rode breakers at Kilto Park stud in the afternoons.
In August 2014 Liam started working for James Bethell. Initially just riding out before becoming travelling head lad.
Liam plays football for Unicorn F.C. in Richmond on Saturdays in the Wensleydale creamery league and also plays in a local pool league on a Sunday night for the Black Bull pub in Middleham. He loves a lads weekend away and playing tennis when he gets the time.
