Our First Turf Runner is a Winner!
Sea The Dream set our ’24 turf campaign off in earnest, he was our first turf runner of the 2024 season and it was a winning one! He won very comfortably under a great ride from Connor Beasley at Thirsk. Sea The Dream is a very genuine honest horse who tries his hardest and puts everything on the line, he wears his heart on his sleeve and just wants to please. The ground was very soft and the drop back in trip to 7f in the ground conditions suited him perfectly. It was brilliant to have his owners at Thirsk for them to see Sea The Dream win, he is their first racehorse and what a way to kick off the season.
It has been a slow start to the turf season so far as it has been for everyone else due to the British weather doing its upmost to stop play with the amount of rain we have had this Spring; no doubt in a couple of months we will be having a hose pipe ban! Although it has been a slow start so far on the turf with race meetings being abandoned we have had a couple of runners on the all weather which have run well. Old Cock had his debut run at Newcastle where he finished 4th which was a fantastic effort from the amount of ground he made up during the race, a very good day at school for him and we very much look forward to seeing his run again. Hopefully, the ground will dry up a little so we can start to have a few more runners as the horses are looking fantastic and are raring to go.
The new barn that we were having built to house the expanding team of horses is finally finished (with a few finishing touches to the outside to be completed), the barn itself is up and running and it home to 19 horses which is fantastic to see the horses enjoying the very smart new barn. It has been a battle against the weather and teething issues as one can imagine with a project on this scale but it is very exciting to see it up and running. There is a new horse walker that will go in beside this new barn which will be erected this week as the foundations are in, watch this space!
Some of the 2yo’s have stepped up their work and Ed managed to work them on the grass gallop, although the ground was on the soft side it was great to see the younger horses get out on the the grass and to have some education.
We are looking forward to seeing Marianglas running at Newcastle tomorrow (Tuesday 16th), there are a few entries for the weekend at Thirsk & Nottingham on Saturday & Musselburgh on Sunday with Kardia, Sea The Dream, Old Cock & Quandary who all have speculative entries.
