Orangesandlemons Wins!
Orangesandlemons won in fine style to break her maiden at Southwell on Wednesday. She has had a string of four seconds and it was brilliant to see her get her head in front for her owners our in-house syndicate Clarendon Thoroughbred’s. Not only did she win but she also picked up her Great British Bonus which is eligible for fillies who are bred in Great Britain, this added a whopping £20,000 to her prize money. Not a bad day in the for a Wednesday afternoon!
It has been a busy start for team Bethell at the yard with all of the horses now being back at the yard and coming into their training regime after the holidays from last season. All of the horses seem to be in tremendous form and are defiantly keeping their riders on their toes by adding a few extra shapes than required going to and from the gallops. All of the horses have wintered well and are holding their condition well leading into the Spring months ahead; even if it does feel like we are still in the depths of winter and wrapped up to the nines! The horses exercise is being increased week on week now with the start of the turf season fast approaching.
As well as Orangesandlemons winning well we have had a handful of runners so far this year on the all-weather and the horses have been very unlucky with them finishing very close seconds; if only we could convert them into winners! The horses seem to be in good form and there is no doubt they will be getting their heads in front on their next starts!
Talking of cold weather, Point Lynas has been enjoying the warmer weather in Qatar as he heads for the Group 2 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cup tomorrow (Saturday). He has been in fantastic form and Liam who rides him everyday at home has travelled with him out to Doha too. He travelled very well and with this being his first trip abroad he bounced off the plane and has been training well since he arrived. We keep our fingers tightly crossed and wish his owners and everyone involved the very best of luck!

Point Lynas exercising ahead of his race in Qatar
As well as Point Lynas running tomorrow we also have four other runners at Southwell, the best of luck to all owners, connections and our team!
