ONE MILLION POUNDS

 In Uncategorized

The team hit a HUGE milestone over the weekend by reaching over £1,000,000 in prize money this season. It feels very surreal to be able to write, write-ups like this as this is a huge achievement for the team as we don’t have runners in Group 1’s every week (yet!) which would of course help with the prize money target so this goes to show how well the horses and team have been performing. We have had many quality winners and placings in good races such Regional finishing second at Royal Ascot in the Gr 1, Mickley winning at Royal Ascot, Intrusively at Glorious Goodwood  in the Gr. 3 where he finished third, as well as Point Lynas winning his listed race as well as other horses having many listed placings. I feel very honoured to be part of this team who achieve these remarkable achievements and I get to update you with this very exciting information.

Ed works every hour that God gives him and he is extremely dedicated to his role and his goals in life, he has goals and dreams that others wouldn’t even think about, and I have no doubt Ed will do everything in his power to make his goals and dreams a reality. He is determined, stubborn and most of all extremely passionate about what he does, his horses are his life and what makes him get up in the morning. Seeing him around them and the bond he has with each of them is very special to see, what they give to him he gives back to them.

In my previous update last week I spoke about reaching the 50 winners goal and to be able to write about another target that has been reached only a week later is such a privilege to be able to write about and to also be a part of. As what I wrote about our team in my previous update, every single word is reiterated in this update too. Without each and every single member of the team here at Bethell Racing none of these goals would be possible, he have a hard working and dedicated team who makes these targets possible. Our horses running consistently to a high standard run after a run is a reflection on the staff at home making sure they are in the best possible condition heading into each of their races. To have achieved the two main targets that Ed set out as the end of last year for this season is absolutely tremendous as they were high goals to achieve. I wander what the goals will be for next season…!

Minstrel Knight was the horse who took us over the million pound mark and added winner number 52 to the tally. He ran a huge race at York in the £100,000 handicap which was over £50,000 to the winner, he won comfortably and lead the whole way around. He loves the softer going and backed up his previous win at Haydock making it back to back wins. He has so much quality and is really starting to come into his own now with the more he is maturing as he is a big framed horse. A huge well done to Adian Keetly who not only won on him but also made it his first ever winning ride at York, what a style to do it in!

It is still a very busy time with the soft ground horses running and other horses trying to get a run on the all weather which is easier said than done as there is such a high volume of horses wanting to run on the all weather as the ground on the turf is too soft for these horses. We have some of our two-year-olds making their debuts as well as them having further runs to educate them before a winter holiday. We have our other horses who have finished for the season out on holiday and most of them holiday at the yard. It is always so lovely to see the horses out in the field together and enjoying their downtime, and enjoying the weather before it turns into the cold winter months. We have Paborus & Florescence running this evening at Southwell, as well as Talismans Time who is declared to run tomorrow at Redcar & Quantum Leap on Saturday at Catterick. Ed has been busy buying horses at the yearling sales this week at Tattersalls, it is always such an exciting time of year as this is when the hopes and dreams for the next generation of horses come alive. Ed has managed to secure some very strong looking horses with fantastic pedigree’s. We have a couple of them going into our syndicate; Clarendon Thoroughbred Racing and shares are available in them. We also have other horses for sale as whole horses of 50% of a horse. Please look at our horses for sale page to see what yearlings we have available to be in training for next season.
