Happy New Year!!!
2016 has been a good year for us at Thorngill, with a quiet start we managed to catch up on winners from July onwards, and ended up with a grand total of 17 winners, an improvement from last year. Our Clarendon racing syndicate did brilliantly 6 wins from only 7 horses, and 8 second places. Thank You Very Much started a very successful new career as a chaser, being placed her first two runs and winning the latest two- she has never been out of the winning enclosure over fences. Fruit Salad was very consistent, being second in four races and winning one, and Briardale won at York. Chiringuita ran brilliantly to come 3rd in a big handicap at Newmarket- earlier in the year she was beaten by subsequent Group 1 winner Pursuasive-and was sold to America for a lot of money. Mister Bob has won 3 from 7 races this year. True Pleasure, our 9 time winner, is in foal to Bated Breath. We have had 3 extra turnout paddocks built, and our arena expanded- it has been very useful for the yearlings getting started. The Jessica Bethell Foundation charity has been very successful, and along with Racing Welfare have agreed the sale on a house in Middleham, which will hopefully end up with a gym, a mechanical horse, cafe and evening classes for the local community, along with a lot more including accommodation.
Next year, we hope to build on the successes of 2016, and have even more winners. We have a good team of horses and staff, and everything is looking in the right direction for a great 2017.
We hope all our owners and friends have a very happy New Year and wish everyone the best for the future.
