February Round UP

 In Uncategorized

February has been a quiet month in terms of runners as the team are preparing for the turf season to start in a few weeks, the countdown is on. Although it has been a quiet month with runners there have been a few, Point Lynas flew the flag for the yard with his run in Qatar. He headed out to Doha to run in the Gr. 2 Irish Marketing Cup where he came a very close second in last year. He travelled very well and took the journey all in his stride like the season pro that he is, he seemed very settled in his new surroundings in the lead up to the race and trained very well when he was out there. Unfortunately the race outcome wasn’t what we had hoped for and what we know he is capable of. He led the field from the wide draw, and they were going pedal to the metal from the first furlong, clocking 44mph in the first few furlongs. He didn’t show his usual form in the race and as the saying goes, it was too bad to be true. He came back sound and well from the race which is the main thing. He will have a well earned break now before coming back for the turf season when the ground firms up in late Spring  (hopefully).

The team had a brilliant winner with Atomic Force winning very well at Chelmsford to back up his last start by winning. He has grown in huge confidence and he is really enjoying his work and racing which is fantastic to see, he will have a quieter time now before his next start.

The team look forward to having a few runners in March with the build up to the end of the month when the 2026 turf season officially begins. It has been a long winter with the team battling the elements everyday, although the winter months have been long it is vital for the horses to do the correct conditioning work so they can build on this when their workload steps up and they start galloping, this is what (hopefully) gives them their longevity to sustain producing results throughout the season, as we all know the season is a long one. We are all really looking forward to the season ahead as we have a very exciting team of horses to take into this season and are looking forward to seeing what they can do.
