All Go With The Yearlings
It has been a quiet time with runners here at Bethell Racing which means lots of s of productive jobs are being done on the yard! Eidikos ran a fantastic race on Saturday the 5th and we all thought she was going to win as she ran a superb race. She held on to the lead until the last furlong which she just tired. She is feeling extremely well in herself and has come out of the race very fit and well.
Although we don’t have many runners at the moment and are gearing up for a few on the all weather next week. It is all systems go with the yearlings we have in the yard who are currently being broken in, most of them are all being ridden away now and are coming on extremely well. They have progressed from being ridden in the lunge pen to the school and are now venturing out onto the moor where the gallops are, there is fantastic old pasture land with slight undulating ground, so it builds up their strength and gets them using their bodies and tires them out before they start to think of doing anything naughty! It’s fantastic to see them progressing each day to each week and will soon be progressing onto the three-furlong canter. It’s brilliant to get to know each yearling as an individual from this stage. They all seem to being taking it in their stride and are really enjoying their routine and work life.
Most of the other horses who ran this season on the turf have been turned away from work and are really enjoying their down period before they come in to start their walk and trot work before it all starts to build up again before next season.
We are very much looking forward to running a few horses over the winter on the all weather where we hope we can continue the good form and to keep the rhythm going into next season!
