Regional Runs A Big Race In Dubai

Reggie & Barbara
Regional headed out to Dubai ten days ago to contest in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint. He has been training very well at home and the team have been very pleased with how he has been, he has been trained for this race the past couple of years but Ed hadn’t been happy with how he came out of the winters heading into the race. Regional came into himself very well coming into the Spring and Ed sent him to Dubai with confidence to run a big race. He travelled very well and thrived being in the very warm sunshine. Barbara who rides him everyday at home and cares for him like her very own travelled with him and was very pleased how he had taken everything. He hadn’t run since last July due to not having a clean scope and then the ground going against him for the rest of the season. He showed his professionalism and ran a huge race to be running in a Group 1 with a long time off the track. Reggie showed everyone his class and genuineness, he came third by three quarters of a length and was a whisker away from coming second, he really was within touching distance of hitting the finishing post first. This is a massive performance and everyone was absolutely thrilled with this result, in Ed’s words he was happy but frustrated. It sets Reggie up for a very exciting season ahead and hopefully we will look forward to seeing him at Royal Ascot in June. A huge well done to his owners and the syndicate, his story really is a fairy tale.

Walking back in after his great performance
Although it has been a quieter time with runners over the past few weeks with the lead up to the turf season, we are in full swing of runners this week and it now feels like the season has officially begun! We have runners at Southwell, Kempton, Newcastle and Thirsk this week. We wish our horses, owners and team the very best of luck!
