The Final Week Of The Turf Season ’24
We look ahead to the final week of the of the turf for the ’24 season. We have two runners left for the turf which sees Chillingham & Minstrel Knight both entered in the November Handicap on Saturday at Doncaster. We are really looking forward to seeing the two horses run and it feels like the season has flown by and to be mentioning the last entries of the turf season. We are looking forward to the weekend and seeing the horses run on the turf we will then look forward to running a few of our horses on the all-weather over the winter. We will be running a small team of horses over the winter with some two-year-olds making their debuts and other horses having a winter campaigns.
We had a couple of runners over the weekend and they were both bridesmaids! Dothan ran a very good race for his third start of his career and ran a very mature race to finish second under Callum. He will now have a winter break to then be brought back ready for the the Spring next year. Our other runner over the weekend was Rouge Sensation who was running at Deauville, France in a listed race. She had a great trip over the water and made it to her beautiful end destination. She ran a tremendous race and really did show how much speed she has, she was stepped up in trip from her previous start at Southwell which was over 6f. She ran very strongly and managed to settle into a good rhythm after the first couple of furlongs where she was quite keen. She ran a huge race and it was looking like she was going to win very nicely when a horse came up on her inside on the rail and beat her by half a neck! This was very unlucky to be beaten on the line but everyone was thrilled how she ran and her jockey who rode her, Christophe Soumillon was very complimentary about her. A very exciting year next year lies ahead for her! She will now have a well earned holiday!
Our other horses have very much been enjoying their time in the paddock and the weather has been very kind to them which makes a huge difference. Some of them who went out earlier will be coming back in to start their fitness and conditioning work in preparation for next year while others will still enjoy a couple of more weeks in the field!
The yearlings are slowly starting to filter into the yard and it is always fantastic to get the know the new faces and characters around the yard. Watch this space for some pictures of them!
