2 Winners & A Fantastic Cambridgeshire Run!
It has been a busy time here at Bethell Racing with lots of runners and huge success with two winners and a fantastic run in the Cambridgeshire for Oviedo.
Our first winner was Sanction who won very impressively at Catterick under a positive ride from Callum Rodriguez who rode her. It was fantastic to see her win again for the yard; and to make it two wins out of three starts from the yard. Well done to her owners and all of the connections.
Cavalier Approach also ran very well at Hamilton to also make it two wins out of three runs from the yard. A Fantastic result for his owner and we are very much looking forward to seeing him run again when we have had a little bit of rain as would wouldn’t believe the ground is as firm as it is in October!
Oviedo ran a huge race in the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket to finish fourth out of a huge field, he travelled extremely well throughout the race and finished very strongly. He drifted across the track a lot from where he was drawn which made him loose a lot of ground, if he hadn’t drifted he would have been a lot closer. We were all so thrilled how he ran and to have such a consistent season all year and to finish his season full of freshness, he will now have a holiday before he starts his fitness work again for next season which I know we are all looking forward to. A huge well done to his owners and all of his connections.
It is a very busy time with the yearling sales that are currently going on, Ed has managed to secure several yearlings so far which all look like very exciting prospects for next season and beyond. They are currently away with pre-trainers who are starting their education before they come to Thorngill to continue their education. This time of year is always very exciting as this is where the hope and dreams start for the forthcoming season, going through pedigrees and the physicals of the horses is such a meticulous job for Ed and his bloodstock agent to do to make sure they secure the horses which they feel have the most potential for good value! It is so important to have a strong team at home so the well oiled machine can keep running smoothly while Ed is away at the sales as we still have one month of the ’23 turf season left and then we also have the all-weather horses who shall be campaigned throughout the winter. We are so thankful for our team at home who have work tirelessly this season to make sure the show runs smoothly and successfully!
This week we have a few runners with three running at Pontefract today; Havana Rose, Indiana Be & Powerful Response. Tomorrow sees James McHenry run at Leicester at 4.32pm. On Wednesday we have two runners at Nottingham; Gundogan & Sanction. Other runner this week are at Ayr, York, Newcastle & Newmarket, these are subject to change as they haven’t been declared yet. Good luck to all of the owners, connections and to the team at home.
