3 Winners, York Update, Group 1 runner & much more!

We have had a very busy and successful time over the past couple of weeks with two winners at Nottingham which was absolutely fantastic. We saw Angel of England win at Nottingham which was brilliant to see him get his head in front and put his first win on the board. He ran a very gutsy race throughout and showed his determination and class, a fantastic win for his owners and all of his connections who were there to see him walk into the winner’s enclosure! Nottingham also saw Sanction win which was absolutely fantastic as she had only been at the yard for a few weeks, well done to her owner and all connections of Sanction.

We have just finished a busy week at York where we had a successful, but ever so close week! The week was set off in good style with Angel of England running in the Goffs sales race, he put in a good solid performance to finish just outside of the placings but we were all pleased with the way he ran.

Point Lynas was our other runner on Thursday and he ran a huge race from start to finish, he set a strong pace from the beginning and sustained this throughout, he managed to hold onto this pace towards the end but then one horse came to him and he was beaten by a nose. It was disappointing to see Point Lynas come second as he so deserved to win his race as he ran so well throughout! We were all still so thrilled and his day will come when he walks into the winners enclosure!

On Friday we saw Regional running in the Nunthorpe which is a Group 1 race, this was so exciting not only in the lead up to the race but also to have Regional going in such good form and to have a runner in a Gr. 1 with a chance was so exciting for everyone involved! He ran an exceptional race and held on to finish 5th which we were all so pleased about, the ground wasn’t to his exact liking after they had watered the track which left the top very loose on top. Nothing can be taken away from Regional and to run how he did at this level we are all extremely proud of! He will potentially have one more run this season dependant on the ground, for now we will enjoy Reggie’s run at York and what a performance he put in!

Friday wasn’t going to be left high and dry on the winners front as Cavalier Approach was flying the flag for team Bethell at Carlisle. This was his first run for the yard and for his owner who is a new supporter of ours! He ran a fantastic race throughout and finished very strongly to win!

Saturday at York saw Oviedo running in the last race of the meeting, he ran a textbook race throughout for him and ran to the plan Ed and Callum had throughout. He was travelling very strongly and was the last one off the bridle coming into the final two furlongs, as Callum asked him him to go he responded very well and we thought he was travelling so well that he was going to win, a very close second but all owners and connections of Oviedo are thrilled!

It was a sad farewell for Coverdale from the Bethell Racing team on Saturday morning as he left for warmer climates as he has been sold to Hong Kong, this is a huge achievement for a horse from our in house racing syndicate to produce the results he did and to have now been sold abroad, we all very much look forward to seeing his run abroad and hopefully he has a successful time aboard as he did here with us! Thank you to our whole team, especially Claire who doted of Coverdale and bought him all the carrots and mints he could ever dream of, he will definitely leave a hole in the yard but hopefully overtime we can fill it with another future superstar!

Final farewell kisses for Coverdale from Claire.

It has been a busy time over the past few weeks but it has all run very smoothly with runners running at different meetings and continuing for the yard to run smoothly as it does daily, none of this would be possible without our team who work tirelessly to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

We are coming into a busy period now for the next couple of months with the yearling and horses in training sales, although it is a busy period it is also a very exciting time as we search for our next superstars to join our yard. We always love sourcing them with the help from or fantastic bloodstock agent, to having them at home to then start the breaking in process, what hopes and dreams are made of and hopefully become!

Big Cheese is declared for Catterick on Wednesday. We have a few other entries at the end of the week with Rock of England entered at Carlisle on Thursday as well as Havana Rose and Cavalier Approach also with entries there on the Friday. Cavalier Approach also has an entry at Wolverhampton on Friday and Ed will have a look through the races and will see what the British weather decides to do before declaring them.

Treat time for the horses!
