Portledge wins well at Newcastle where he seems to love the straight track there. He was given a great ride by Danny Tudhope and won well getting on top of Harvest Day in the final furlong. There was a change of tactics because the last time at Chelmsford he didn’t seem to face the kick back at all so we thought we would give him daylight and he seemed to thrive on it. He has been a very fun horse for his owner Mr Buckingham and we hope he may be able to add to his tally this winter we will be search of more races at Newcastle.
We have four runners over Friday and Saturday, with three of them at Newcastle tomorrow evening. Truth or Dare makes his debut on the All weather for us and he will be fitted with Cheekpieces for the first time, this is to see if we can spark a bit of a revival out of him, he was a pattern performer in his early days and it is quite a drop in grade so we are hopeful he can run a big race for his owner Mr Tabet.
In the second race we have Tucson, he ran in a very hot race first time out and he is in a lot milder company this time, although he will probably come on again for the run I am hopeful he can run a big race none the less.
Finally Jessinamillion runs again as he seems so fresh from his last run there last week we thought we would give him another chance.
On Saturday Edgewood goes to the curtain closer of the turf season at Doncaster, we like this horse a lot and he drops back to 6F but we don’t think it will pose too much of a problem and we are hopeful he can run a big race all the same in what looks a competitive maiden!
