New Society won very well at Catterick on Wednesday last week and we couldn’t be happier with how he has come out of the race. He was given a great ride by PJ Mcdonald and we are hopeful that he will now continue to progress throughout the season in some nice staying handicaps. The other runners last week all faired well and we were happy with their performances especially Pilkington who we have only known for a few months and I would think he will come on for the run and we should have a fun season with him.
This week starts off with three runners at Newcastle tomorrow evening. Portledge is in the first race and he is making his seasonal reappearance and his first start since he was gelded. His work at home has been very good, but like all of ours he will come on for the run. The race looks like a tough handicap but I believe he certainly will not disgrace himself.
Harrogate is next up tomorrow evening, he ran a nice race first time up this year, having just needed the run. The form of that race has worked out well so I would be hopeful tomorrow night will be his night!
Finally, Cray is our next runner and he has really started to come to himself in the past two weeks, his work has been good and he looks fantastic. The race looks competitive but we are hopeful that the gelding operation has worked and he should be able to run a big race first up after a break.
The rest of the week we have plenty entries, with Firby possibly running on the Thursday at Redcar. He came out of his last race extremely well and we have been very happy with him. I think his race will have brought him forward and I would be confident he could run a good race.
On Saturday we have five entries between Doncaster and Wetherby. There will be updates on them towards then end of the week.
All the other horses are coming to themselves and we are very happy with all their progresses.
