News : January 2016
Firstly, welcome to the new, improved website, we hope you like it! Here you will be able to find out everything you need to know about James, Sally and the rest of the team here at Thorngill. There will be regular updates about our string of racehorses including entries, performance analysis and also ownership opportunities! Please see our Horses for Sale section as we have limited shares available in some top prospects for the season ahead.
Also via the new site there will be links to our Facebook, Twitter and (coming soon!) YouTube Channel, where you can keep up to date with all the exciting news and updates throughout the 2016 season and beyond.
Having started here at Thorngill last week, I have straight away been tasked with looking after the website and social media side of things, which is ideal for someone in my position as I am able to observe everything that goes on here, from the yard to the gallops to the office.
Initial observations! This such a fantastic setting in which to train racehorses. The expanse of both the Low and High Moors offer a tremendously safe and tranquil training area. With access to 3 and 7 furlong all weather and grass gallops plus schooling grounds with fences and hurdles on the Low Moor and 1 mile+ gallops on the High Moor, there are ample facilities to train racehorses over all distances and disciplines.
One big advantage we have over trainers across the moor in Middleham is that we don’t have to negotiate the roads and traffic through the town with our string. Thankfully we have a pleasant walk/trot through Tupgill Park, past the lake and Clarence the Goose, which then leads up onto the Low Moor.
As a result of these fantastic facilities and having wintered so well, our horses have hit the ground running in 2016, with a 1st and a 2nd from 3 runners so far, things are looking bright for the season.
