Portledge wins well
We had a good evening last night with Portledge winning very well under Kevin Stott, he got himself into all sorts of trouble but he eventually found the gaps and came through and won very comfortably in the end, beating a short priced favourite of Godolphin’s. We believe that the gelding operation has worked the oracle and we would like to think he will continue to improve throughout the year.
Harrogate, was our only slight disappointment he was just a bit too far back off a slow pace, which made it very hard for him to quicken to catch the winner. He has come out of his race very well and we will look for another race in the not too distant future.
Cray, ran a great race first up after a long break, he could of been called a little unlucky, he got bumped around a bit coming into the home straight just when he wanted to start making his move and he finished off strongly at the end and was a close 3rd. He had a good blow after the race and I am certain that run will bring him on for his next start.
We have Firby running tomorrow and he is in the right race and I believe he should be able to go very close. He has been bouncing since his last run and the form has been working out okay.
Saturday we have 5 runners, Two of them at Wetherby and that is Cuckoo’s Calling and Penistone, they both run in the mile and a quarter Novice Stakes. They both seem in good order and fingers crossed they should be able to run well.
On Saturday evening we are headed up by Ulshaw Bridge, who will be making his seasonal reappearance at Doncaster, his work has been good and he looks fantastic, so we are very hopeful that he will run a big race in what looks a very competitive handicap.
Truth Or Dare, is also entered at Doncaster on Saturday, He has come out of his race at Ripon well and I think a conventional seven Furlongs at Doncaster will suit him far better than the six furlongs at Ripon.
Our third and final runner on Saturday evening could possibly be On Fire however his chances rest on what the state of the going will be.
