Moss Gill Lands the Listed City Walls Stakes
What a weekend!! Moss Gill landed one of the big prizes on Saturday afternoon at his beloved York Racecourse! In doing so he turned the form around with a few of his opponents and made sure he was a sprinter with a big future and also cementing our thoughts in him. The big question is where we will head next… The Nunthorpe… Group 3 in Deauville or maybe a Crack at the Flying Five in Ireland Group 1. All the same it is a lovely conundrum to have. Today the Handicapper will reassess his mark and I think it should be very interesting to see what he does to him. It was a decent field he beat on Saturday and I think he has shown us that being in pattern races is the only way forward.
In other news all the horses are in fine fettle and they are running very well, we have hit the crossbar more times than I can even count to, which is hugely frustrating but great to see in a way because it shows that the horses are in great form and I have no doubt the luck will be on our side soon!
We have a lot of entries this week, Stockbridge Tap backs up after a good second at Ripon two weeks ago, although he won’t run if the ground has any firm in the description which is looking likely! Well Funded, is entered on Friday at Beverley in what I believe is the right race but she too wouldn’t want to race with any firm in the description although there is rain around on Thursday so it will be a last minute decision on whether we run or not!
We have Grantley entered at Ascot on Saturday in a Nursery Handicap. He has done nothing wrong for his connections and it will be very interesting to see whether the handicapper has got his mark right or not!!
Finally over the weekend we have two runners at York Ulshaw Bridge backs up after his run last weekend where he showed more zest under Ryan Moore, he has come out of the race really well and I am really happy with him, we will make a decision closer to the time. Dawaaween also has entered over the weekend, she is in fantastic form but like a few of ours it will depend on the weather in the next few days whether she takes her chance.
