March News Pt.3
The Easter weekend has been and gone, the weather forecast for the near future is positive, so barring any unforeseen hurdles we can now really start working towards the season ahead, our regular jockey PJ has been in riding work and is very pleased with progress.
Talking of hurdles, Thankyouverymuch ran a fantastic race at her first attempt in nearly a year last Tuesday at Wetherby. Beaten only a length, she’d shown great determination to make up 6 lengths round the far turn and took the lead with 2 furlongs to go but was collared by the in-form favourite in the run to the line.
Princess Peaches met some bad luck in running during her race at Southwell on Wednesday. After breaking very well she was struck into in the 2nd furlong allowing the favourite on her outside to get in front of her before the bend. A combination of the kickback and the loss of momentum put pay to her chances of making up the ground although she stayed on gamely to finish within 5 lengths of the winner.
At Kempton, Rich Again also met trouble in running and looked an unlucky loser after coming with his customary late charge. Unfortunately the gap in horses he was being aimed at slammed shut in front of him with a furlong to go probably costing him the race.
On to this week! Firstly, Burneston is set to take on 2m for the first time at 5pm this afternoon at Wolverhampton. He has been working well at home and should improve for the run. 5 days later at Doncaster, Briardale gets his season underway in the 4:40 over 1m2f. He looks fit and well in himself and we’d be hopeful of a good showing.
