January Blues

Our three runners last week all ran well but it looked as if they needed the match sharpness, I have a feeling they could nearly be winning next time they run. Portledge, was the first runner and he ran a good race but just blew up in the final half a furlong. I don’t think he will be very far away at all next time. Rich Approach was next, he travelled seamlessly through the race and looked for all the world he was going to win but match fitness just found him out a little bit in the final 100 yards. Jack Mitchell the jockey was very happy with him. Mudawwan was the final runner of the week and he also looked as if he needed the run. All in all we were very happy with the runs of all the horses and It doesn’t look like our winning turn will be very far away at all.

This week we have two entries, Strawberry and cream has an entry at Newcastle on Friday, she seems in good form at home, but we will wait and see whether it is the right race for her. Our second entry is Call me Madam at Wetherby on Saturday, this filly of Mr Gibbon’s has been jumping very well at home and weather/ ground dependent we will make a decision on whether she takes up the entry on Saturday.

In all other news, it has been a relatively quiet few weeks here, we are very much gearing the horses up for the season ahead, and it is looking like we have a great team of horses to go to war with. Although we do still have a couple of shares left in Grantley for sale, if you would be interested in getting involved in an early type by Charm Spirit.
