An important week for Yorkshire
Cray won very impressively at Pontefract races under a great ride by Danny Tudhope, Cray has been a model of consistency this year, and he thoroughly deserved this win. We are certainly hoping the handicapper doesn’t put him up too much, fortunately we have a couple of races in mind for him just in case the handicapper does decide he wants to put him too much.
This weeks we will have a few runners at York, Carlisle, Redcar and Goodwood. Starting with York on Tuesday we have Hesslewood in the Nursery Handicap, he has really started to come back too himself the past two weeks since his disappointing run at Ascot. Although he has a tricky handicap mark I certainly believe he would be well up to winning a race of this nature, he has been training really well at home and he has been pleasing all his riders, although it is a competitive field, i certainly think he will give his great team of owners something to shout about.
Also on Tuesday we have New Society starting back after a mid season break, he goes to Carlisle for the 5.55pm race, he has really thrived for the short break and his work has been good in recent weeks. This handicap looks very competitive but I am hopeful he should be able to bounce back to form and run a good race.
Towards the end of the week we have Ulshaw Bridge at York, his work has been fantastic since his great run at Ascot and he looks to be going to the race in good form and on similar terms to what he was at Ascot. Like all of the racing at York this week it will be extremely competitive but he will be going there in good form, so fingers crossed he will run a big race.
In addition to Ulshaw Bridge on Friday we have Edgewood, who has an entry in the Convivial Maiden stakes, this race is notoriously hot and I don’t think we will run him if the ground is firm, but he has come out of his race at Leicester very well, he seems fresh and he looks to have come on for the run but we will be on weather watch for the remainder of the week.
Finally at the end of the week, Truth or Dare will have an entry at Goodwood and Redcar; we will look through the races and see what looks the most winnable.
Fingers crossed we will have some luck!
